1) TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF.

This is the first question, you can expect during any interview you face. This usually is a question to start the communication and set the ball rolling for the interview. You can answer this question by providing some information about your work experience, technologies you have worked upon, educational qualifications. If you are a fresh graduate, you can provide some information about your family also.

Good Morning Sir/Madam,
My name is John Dane and currently, I have been working for Wipro since Jan 2016.
About my education, I have done bachelors in computer applications.
About my family, we are four members in our family. One brother, father, and mother.
My father was a teacher, he is retired from his services and my mother is a homemaker.
My brother who is older than me works for Cognizant solutions and he is staying at mascot city in Oman.
At the beginning of my career, I have done data entry operator job for 2 years.
Then I started my own business which was a semi-government contract. After running that business for 5 years, I joined Wipro in Jan 2016.
I looking for a position where I can work for a long time and grow with the organization and I feel that this organization would give me this opportunity.


2) TELL ME SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT IS NOT WRITTEN IN YOUR RESUME.

If you missed out on some points while writing your resume this is your chance to discuss them.
- While talking about yourself, be confident, but not over confident.

- Do not praise yourself all the time.
- You could discuss some personal traits or achievements.

3) WHAT ARE YOUR KEY STRENGTHS?

The idea here is to understand how much you know about yourself and how confident you are about your strengths.

Like:
Sir, my greatest strength is my ability to learn things quickly & my positive attitude, even during the most hardest of times. During my college project, there has been couple of occasions, when our idea was not falling in place and the results were negative. I had to believe and think positively and keep my team motivated to persist on our idea, and finally we got the desired result.

4) WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT FOR YOU — GOALS OR RULES?

Expecting you to give a definitive response to this question is a kind of test to check how well you think on your feet.

Like:
I’ve learned to score goals while playing by the rules. You can explore this line by giving any example.

5) WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HARD WORK AND SMART WORK?

I think hard work gives us the experience and smart work comes from the experience. There is no smart work without hard work.


6) WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF FIVE YEARS FROM NOW?

Today I am known by my name, after 5 years I will be known by my work.

7) WHY DOES THIS ROLE INTEREST YOU? OR WHY HAVE YOU APPLIED FOR THIS JOB?

The purpose of this question is to see if you are really interested in this job or you applied to this job just because you are jobless. Relate the job requirements with your candidature and explain why do you believe you are a suitable candidate for this job.

Like:

Sir, it is a great privilege for anyone to work with in a reputed company like yours. When I read about your company, I found that my skills are matching your requirements. Where I can showcase my technical skills to contribute to the company growth.

8) WHY DO YOU THINK THIS COMPANY IS A GOOD FIT FOR YOU?

You need to know what the company does, what its values are, how it has been performing, and any other relevant detail you can get. Then frame the answer in a way that highlights how only this place can help you grow, giving you the opportunities and an excellent platform to reach the career goal you mentioned in the previous question.

 

9) WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN WORKING FOR [INSERT COMPANY NAME HERE]?


The objective of this question is to assess how serious the candidate is about seeking employment with the company. The interviewer also wants to know how familiar you are with the company’s mission, culture and values and whether you believe you will be a good fit in the organization.

Like:
I have wanted to work in this organization for a long time now, so when I heard about a vacancy in your company that fit my profile, I immediately applied for it. I admire the way you successfully combine commerce with socially responsible business and would love to be a part of an organization that looks at business in a holistic manner.

 

10) IF YOU FACE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR OWN PERFORMANCE, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?


Your answer to this question signifies whether you can identify problems with yourself or not.

Like:
If I see a problem with my own performance, I’ll try to find out and analysis the factors behind it & work on each of them.

 

11) IF YOU HAVE NEVER LEAD IN THE PAST, HOW WOULD YOU DO IT IN THIS ROLE?


If you know how to do the work and you have the right attitude, you can lead. It is more important to have the leadership traits.

Like:
I know the job well and I have the qualities which need me to lead here. So, I think I am ready to move on to a more challenging and responsible positions like this.

 

12) WHAT IS LEADERSHIP AND HOW DO YOU DEFINE A ‘GOOD LEADER’?

Leadership is all about influencing others and is an art of leading deliberately to create a result that wouldn’t have happened otherwise. Leaders are tagged with power and authority who guide the team towards achieving the goals. A good or a great leader leads the team by being an example, inspires, persuades and develops personal connections that help in the success of the organization.

 

13) WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AT WORK?


Like:
I believe nothing can motivate you unless you are self-motivated.
My dreams my goals motivates me.
Challenges failure and insults have taken in a positive way can motivate any person to 
achieve something big.
The need to see a big proud smile in my parents face because of me motivates me every day!

14) WHY SHOULD WE HIRE YOU?

Your response will be:
“My achievements match with your requirements”.
Sure enough, the next question will be something like, 

what are your achievements and how do you think they match with our requirements?

Now is the time to talk about what you have achieved in life – be it sports, academics, extracurricular. Be careful, though, to link this to learning that is relevant to the position you’re discussing.

For instance, tie your accomplishments in sports to leadership; in academics to project management; your extracurricular activities to team work.

 

15) CAN YOU PERFORM UNDER PRESSURE?

I think working under pressure will increase my ability and skills and also it will be taken out my hidden abilities.

 

16) WHY DID YOU RESIGN FROM YOUR PREVIOUS JOB?


In my opinion everyone has to reach their goal step by step, where I had learned a lot of new things from my current company as a fresher I'm really thankful for that, I think it's the time to take a step ahead to accept new challenges to grow and explore more professionally, personally as well as financially.

 

17) HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR WORK STYLE?


Your response will be:
My work style is performance oriented and I love to enjoy the work.

 

18) ARE YOU PLANNING TO GO FOR FURTHER STUDIES?


This answer needs to be answered tactfully, they want to know whether you are going to stay for long or you are just there to use their training resources and then say goodbye in 6 month’s time. 

- If you are pursuing further studies, say so. Tell them why you want to go for that course

- If you are taking up a distance education course or a part time course, they should know, as you will need to take leaves when you appear for exams

 

19) WHAT IS YOUR EXPECTED SALARY?


Sir, I am a fresher, salary is not important for me, first of all, I need a platform to enhance my knowledge, if I work properly I will l get a handful salary.

 

20) DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR US?


This is usually the last question you can expect during an interview. It is extremely important to have some intelligent questions to ask the interviewer otherwise you may just sound dull and un-interested. Research the company a bit and discuss if they have been in news recently.
